Left 4 Dead 2 is getting its first major update in almost a decade. The update will arrive later this month. The name of this update is “The Last Stand”. Even after the 8 years of the release, this game has set an identity of its own. Which is probably the reason for Valve to finally give the players what they want. It does took Valve some time (8 years in total) to take a step ahead, but as the saying goes, better late than never.
The update will be available on September 24.
It is stated by some insider that the original plan of this update was just to bring the maps from Left 4 dead 1 to Left 4 dead 2. They were planning to bring all the maps that were never ported to this game. Probably to bring whatever was missing.
Following is a list of changes will be released for Left 4 Dead 2 with the Last Stand update :-
- The Last Stand campaign – It will be an alternative path to the servival in hope of salvation, but are you sure it’s safe?
- 30 brand new achievements – New and exciting achievements to grind for.
- 26 new survival maps – There will be all new 26 maps to survive and face the horde of the dead.
- 4 new scavenge maps – Don’t know if anyone plays it anymore.
- 2 new melee weapons – Pitchfork and Shovel are the two new melee weapons available for players. Gotta beat’em with the shovel till satisfied (if you’re a psycho).
- Left 4 Dead 1 infected skins with functional gore – they are bringing back the infected skins an they are bloodier than ever.
- New and unused survivor voice lines – more interactive voice lines according to the situations. Making some unpopular characters relevant (a little bit).
- New and improved character animations – Some interesting modifications by the developers making new and improved animations.
- Reworked gun models and animations – the behavior and the attributes of the guns will be more accurate now.
- PvP enhancements and balance updates – New highlighted attacking spots, new spawns locations for special characters (tank, witch, jockey, etc).
- Official CSS weapon implementation – The CSS weapons are available for all the players.
- Brand new mutations Rocketdude and Tank run – being rocket dude in a survival game? that’s nasty! But, it will be fun either way.
The update is going to be free for all players, so basically if you own the game, all you have to do is just download the update.
The development team of L4D gives its success credit to the Left 4 Dead community for their love and support and its still going strong even over a decade. About Left 4 Dead 3, their are no plans about it but will be working on them as Valve allows them to do so.
The Last Stand update will be available for players on September 24.
