Microsoft has officially announced the price and launch date of its next gen console, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. They teased the product with a video released on Tuesday. Both of these consoles are going to launch on the same date, November 10. They also mentioned the price of both the respective consoles. The price of Xbox Series X is $499. And the Xbox Series S will be available for $299.
Microsoft is certain that this upcoming console will provide “Next Gen Performance”. They are using the all new hardware that goes up to 120fps rate that too on 1440p resolution. These consoles will be supporting backward compatibility, which will help players to get access to the games meant for previous Microsoft consoles like Xbox One, Xbox 360 and the original Xbox consoles.
The Xbox Series X is going to be the next Premium console in its own way. It comes with a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU, which is based on a 7nm manufacturing process. This AMD Zen 2 has 8 cores, where each core is clocked at 3.8GHz. It has a custom AMD RDNA 2 GPU generating 12 teraflops and 52 computing units in it. And each of them is clocked at 1.825GHz. It will also have 1TB NVME SSD inside the Xbox Series X which is also compatible to custom expansion cards.
As mentioned above, it will provide backward compatibility so it will be able to run the existing gaming titles from Xbox, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It will be running these games efficiently, thanks to the powerful support from its hardware. Microsoft itself is saying that some of these titles may perform even beyond expectations.
“higher and more steady frame-rates and rendering at their maximum resolution and visual quality and reduced in-game load times.” –Microsoft
Another special feature it has is, Microsoft has added the platform-level compatibility to the console, Xbox Series X. Which will help in running some of the older games in HDR at up to 120fps.
The Xbox Series S is said to be the “Smallest Xbox ever“. It will be about 60% smaller that the size of Xbox Series X. Just like Xbox One S, it will be all digital. And as of for storage, it will come along with 512 GB SSD. It is made to be able to support up to 120fps performance at the resolution of 1440p. And the Xbox Series S is strong enough to rise its limits up to 4K with simultaneously providing 4K media on stream.
And last but not the least, it will be providing Direct X ray tracing and variable color combinations to make things even more graceful.
Also, for Xbox Series X, their is a subscription based service named “Microsoft’s Xbox All Access subscription” which is available just for $34.99 per month. I will be stretched to 2 year duration. And for Xbox Series S, it will be also providing the same service for $24.99 per month till 2 years.
These subscriptions contains Xbox Game Pass Ultimate which provides you the access to Microsoft’s library of subscription games.
It’s about time that Sony will fireback at Microsoft with its plus points since Microsoft as already made its move.
