PUBG Banned in India With 117 Other Apps

PUBG Banned in India: PUBG Mobile is one of the most popular online multiplayer shooter games who took mobile gaming by storm. PUBG Mobile can be considered as the milestone who helped revolutionize the mobile gaming industry. Unfortunately, on Wednesday 2nd of September 2020, PUBG Mobile got banned by Government of India. Not only PUBG Mobile, thier are a total of 118 apps including PUBG Mobile, who got banned to amid the provocation by China in Ladakh going on by the past few months.

The Indian Government has taken this move to ensure the security of the nation in interest of India’s defense, integrity and safety.

PUBG Mobile is one of the top most downloaded games around the globe with over 700 millions of downloads. About 50 millions of this count belongs to the players from India. According to a survey, India has about 13 millions of active daily users.

PUBG Banned in India: Reason

From the intel of IT Ministry of India, the statement says,“these apps are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, security of state and public order”. In other words, it is determined that the data gathered from these apps were used by Chinese government to monitor and take advantage of India which is could cause harm to the civilization as well as the overall security of India.

They further stated that the decision is a targeted move to ensure safety, security, sovereignty of Indian cyberspace. The statement goes on with saying that this move will be helpful to keep the crores of Indian mobile users and internet users safe.

The popularity of PUBG Mobile is not hidden from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as we all know when the PM himself mentioned the game in an exam event by saying “Yeh PUBG wala hai kya?” (is he a PUBG player?)

It was inevitable for PUBG as couple of months ago, the government has banned 59 apps including Tiktok, UC Browser and many more.

In defense, the ministry has stated that the move taken was the need of safety as they received multiple complaints about the misuse of data by this apps and transmitting this data out of the country.

They stated that the measures were taken as an immediate actions with respect to the safety of nation.

This ban contains games, photo editing apps, dating apps and online payment services.

The decision comes the day after another attempt by Chinese troops trying to provoke Indian army near Pangong Lake of Ladakh. This attempt was made before by the Chinese on 31 August which was demolished by the Indian army.
