After getting banned in India, PUBG Mobile and Tencent has suffered about $42B dollars of loss that too within a week of ban. Due to the huge market space from India, and over 50 millions of players from Indian region, PUBG Mobile has decided to cut ties of publishing rights with Tencent from the country (India).
Why PUBG Mobile got Banned ?
As per the statement by the government of India, PUBG Mobile has been banned under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.And the reason is, “they are engaged in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order”. Tencent can be considered as the only reason for PUBG Mobile to get banned since the PC version has nothing to do with Tencent and so it wasn’t harmed at all.
Is PUBG Mobile Coming Back To India?
Out of the 118 apps banned in India, PUBG Mobile has a huge impact on world as it sliced off the revenue of a major brand drastically. Though, its not a Chinese app, the only thing that bonded it with China was Tencent. So, cutting ties with Tencent for India might bring the game back to India soon. Even if its banned, Tencent has stated that they will work with the government to get the game unbanned.
What PUBG has to say about it is, “Moving forward, PUBG Corporation will take on all publishing responsibilities within the country. As the company explores ways to provide its own PUBG experience for India in the near future. It is committed to doing so by sustaining a localised and healthy gameplay environment for its fans.”
The youth of India is hoping to see PUBG Mobile get unbanned. It might not make a difference to most of the people, but for the True Gamers, it was their way to express their talent. It was the only game that took Indian gaming to lead their way to e-sports. And last but not the least, PUBG Mobile has a huge number of streamer community that was their way of earning as well as the way to connect to the audience as well as other professional players.
